Kates Playground Literature

Günter Grass wrote a very dense, difficult reading and understanding complicated. The protagonist, Oscar Matzerath, a being amoral, being held in a psychiatric hospital and from your room we recounts his life until the present moment.

Oscar, on his third birthday the decision to stop growing at the same time received his first drum, a tin drum which serves to tell their stories and be his inseparable companion.

The book is full of reflections on many subjects it covers from the pre-war World War 2, both lived in the city of Danzig, and the war in Düsseldorf.

I have drawn much attention to the fact that in the narrative jumps from first to third person , sometimes the narrator speaks in first person and sometimes refers to himself in the third person.

There is much criticism in the pages of this book that I doubt she has taken less than half the party may, in fact I was tempted to leave after reading about 80 pages but I persevered and I have concluded, not without effort.
